So, here we are - September! A new start! What a month September is shaping up to be, and August was also certainly eventful! After the events of Comic Con 09, we were left speculating all about the things we saw. And last month it was confirmed - John Simm WILL return as the Master! And David Tennant’s final episode WILL be called ‘The End of Time’! Fitting, eh? So, that certainly has ruffled up the forums! But it truly begins NOW, in September, with the beginning of the end of this year’s true Whoness. It’ll all start off with the SJA, then it will continue on through Dreamland, The Waters of Mars, and before we know it, we’ll be at Christmas time, and The End of Time itself will be upon us!
Welcome to DW24U! We aim to bring you the news as it happens! We're updated daily and provide you with gossip, news, rumours and more from the Whoniverse! This is the part of the site where news is uploaded almost every day. But we're more than just a news site, you know. We have a wide range/ selection of pages and items all about the World of Who. Check them out using the navigation bar above! Feel free to comment. However: NO SPAMMING, SWEARING, OR NASTY COMMENTS. These posts may have been taken from other sites. It has now been officially confirmed that Richard Curtis will be writing an episode for the upcoming fifth series of Doctor Who! The news was first brought to light by The Sun newspaper yesterday morning, and was soon picked up by various other sources. But now the writer’s agent has announced that the rumours are, indeed, true!

Curtis is acclaimed for his films such as Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and, more recently, The Boat That Rocked. His television credits include The Vicar of Dibley, Blackadder, and Mr. Bean, but there are no details regarding his Doctor Who episode as of yet. All we know is that it will feature a monster who will do battle with ‘a famous historical figure’. Exciting stuff! So, from what we’ve seen from filming so far, and with Steven Moffat penning episodes as head writer and Curtis now onboard, it’s shaping up to be quite a series! Roll on 2010! BBC Audiobooks have released the cover and synopsis for their upcoming release The Day of the Trolls, a brand new Doctor Who adventure written exclusively for CD by Simon Messingham, and read by the current incarnation of the Time Lord himself - David Tennant!

It follows the Doctor as he arrives on Earth in the far future. He is horrified to find the planet beset by famine and starvation, and England is a barren wasteland. Scientists are desperately seeding the ground to make the crops grow again, but now it seems that something even worse is happening… Karl Baring, the owner of research facility The Grange, has been snatched away in the middle of the night. His sister Katy was with him when he vanished, but is now in catatonic shock - so it’s up to the Doctor, with the help of the scientists at The Grange, to investigate. What is lurking under the old bridge, and why is it preying on people? The Doctor must find out, before it strikes again… The Day of the Troll will be released on 8th October 2009, at the RRP price of £9.77.

The Daily Star has claimed that the infamous Daleks will be making a comeback in Series 5 of Doctor Who, and that their return will see them under the control of... Winston Churchill!

According to the report, the Doctor will be reunited with his deadliest foes when the TARDIS lands in World War II. The newly-regenerated Time Lord and his companion, Amy Pond, find them working alongside the Prime Minister in an attempt to bring down the Nazis. And in preparation for the battle, Churchill has had their metal exteriors painted khaki and green and even attached Union Flags under their eyepieces - now that’s what we call being patriotic!

“It’s going to be one of the most fantastic stories,” a show source told the tabloid. “Daleks, Churchill, Nazis, Hitler and Doctor Who‚ who can top that?” They added: “The show’s writers know that bringing back the Daleks is always a ratings winner.” The newspaper also suggests that the Daleks will be shouting ‘Ausrotten!’ in the episodes, which is the German translation of their iconic cry ‘Exterminate!’ (Thanks to Whoviannet for the news!)

Well, as you may have noticed, over the past few days Piczo has been going through a re-vamp which has caused havoc with many a Piczo user, including ourselves here at DW24U. We've had many unsuccessful attempts at logging in, acessing the page editor, creating a 'new nickname sign in', and we've even been tempted to move to different host as the problems got so bad.

We've tried Webs, ZooLoo, Blogger, BlueVoda, and more, but we realised yesterday that nothing other than Piczo suited our accquired taste. After much thought, we decided on what was hapening in thefuture of DW24U. So we've decided NOT to move away from Piczo. We've concluded that nothing else can match Piczo's unique adaptability and creativeness, and the ability to design a complete layout of our own. Many people have also told us how much they loved DW24U on Piczo, and it would be a shame to see it move on to anything less... creative.

So, updates now SHALL resume as normal, unless Piczo decides to play up again, then more serious thoughts on where DW24U is going may come to mind. So, look forward to new features, new banners, and a whole load of new news!

Quick Reads have now revealed the cover and synopsis for next year's Doctor Who Quick Read novel, Code of the Krillitanes. The book features The Tenth Doctor and as the title suggests, The Krillitantes, who appeared in the Doctor Who series two episode, School Reunion. The cover of the book can be seen below, and the official synopsis for it can be read below:

"I blame those new Brainy Crisps. Since he started eating them, he’s been too clever by half.” Can eating a bag of crisps really make you more clever? The company that makes the crisps says so, and they seem to be right. But the Doctor is worried. Who would want to make people more brainy? And why? With just his sonic screwdriver and a supermarket trolley full of crisps, the Doctor sets out to find the truth. The answer is scary – the Krillitanes are back on Earth, and everyone is at risk! Last time they took over a school. This time they have hijacked the internet. Whatever they are up to, it’s big and it’s nasty. Only the Doctor can stop them – if he isn’t already too late... A short, sharp shot of adventure, featuring the Doctor as played David Tennant in the hit series from BBC Television.

Code of the Krillitanes is written by Justin Richards and follows on from the previous four Doctor Who Quick Reads: I am a Dalek, Made of Steel, Revenge of the Judoon and The Sontaran Games. The book consists of 128 pages and will be released as a paperback across the United Kingdom and Ireland on the fourth of March 2010, being sold for £1.99. (Post thanks to TheGallifreyVortex)

As previously reported, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have been recently filming at a council owned World War II bunker. Today, some images have been leaked of filming, that gve us a few clues and one possibly MASSIVE spoiler to the certian episode(s). It had also been previously reported that all filming would be taking place underground. However, fans were left please as filming was seen on TOP of the building for a period.

Among others, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were both seen on the rooftop, along with several army-type WWII soldiers with guns, masses of sandbags, barbed wire, and a grey/matte coloured...DALEK! Oh yes, it's all true! As you can see in the images above and below, the top of a Dalek was seen on the rooftop! So, what can we make of that? (Thanks to Planet Gallifrey for the facts and Scooty for the images!)
